I am smoking Crack again

4 Jan

Well at least I think I was when I signed up for the CrossFit Games Sectionals. In my head I was thinking it would be fun and a good experience. Then after a couple of days the reality set in and I started to panic. Especially when I start thinking about these girls:
Tanya Wagner and Cyndi Frieling

Even though Cyndi’s 365# deadlift was way ahead of most of the girls at the games it’s still a little less than 100# more than mine and I am pretty strong.

So after a little thought and some slow breathing, scented candles and a full body massage I decided that I would set some goals, go to the competition with confidence that I would do my best and make my fellow CrossFit girls proud. I also thought that this could hopefully be inspirational to other “average” CF girls that you can do something you put you mind to and when the dust settles just know you are #1 in my book.

Well I have about 2 months to get ready. I hope you will follow along with me, provide support and comments as I go. I will track my progress here on the blog so you can check in from time to time to see how I’m doing.

Here are some beginning stats, known weaknesses and ways I plan to conquer them:

Known weakness: kipping pullups– right now I can do about 5. This is the biggest problem. For the first month I am going to do 50-100 pull-ups on the band every other day. After a month I will see where my strength is at and make adjustments if necessary.

I talked to Justin about training and he said I can do the training program that he is doing so that will start next week after the OC Throwdown this weekend. I’m also doing 100 sit ups and 100 push ups every morning with a recovery day here and there.

I’m not so much worried about my strength since my lifts rank right up there with the top 10 girls, except Oly lifts. What I really need is some conditioning.

My current weight is 150#, and ideally I need to lean out so I hope to drop as close to 15# as I can in the next 2 months. I’m back on my Paleo style diet with Zone diet measurements. I am lowering my carb intake and raising my fat to help with the leaning process. No dairy, no bread, no gluten, no beer (sad face).

And so the journey begins……
