I think most of you know that I love lifting heavy weight, and even though I also love CrossFit I really would be happy just throwing big weight around. So a few weeks ago when I was told a local coach was starting a Powerlifting team I was super excited and all over it! I looking into powerlifting a few months back and really couldn’t find anything in the area so I ditched the idea. Max Mormont at SoCal Strength and Conditioning who is already an expert in strength training decided to start a power lifting team. I went down to his gym to meet him and his team of trainers and was very impressed. This is my second week training and I am so excited about the future. I mostly work with Nate who is also a power lifter and he has really helped me with technique. All the trainers are great there and in just two weeks I have learned a lot. And we have a lot of fun too. Sometimes its hard to work with Max because he is very head strong! Here is a pic so you know what I mean:
lol! This pic cracks me up. I think this is some sort of torture device but apparently you can use it to build strength in your neck as seen in the example given here by Max.
So just in case you still have no idea what power lifting is…….its 3 lifts; bench press
Back squat
AND my favorite the dead lift
Now that I am training for powerlifting I am no longer going to the CrossFit sectionals which is kinda a relief since I think I was going to get my butt kicked. I’m not really sure what competitions we are doing this year but it looks like we are doing the California Games in July.
So stay tuned for more great stories about big weights!!

What a great opportunity! And, they are lucky to have you!! You are going to kill it at the Games – we will be there!!!
We miss you!
